AceShowbiz - Kevin Morby has revealed details about his upcoming album titled Little Wide Open, produced by Aaron Dessner of The National. This much-anticipated record will feature contributions from notable artists including Justin Vernon, Katie Gavin of Muna, Amelia Meath from Sylvan Esso, and Lucinda Williams. Fans can expect its release on May 15 through Dead Oceans.
Along with the album announcement, Morby has shared a captivating music video for the lead single, “Javelin”, which features both Morby and comedian Caleb Hearon. The video also includes a special cameo by Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee. You can watch the video below.
In a press statement, Morby described “Javelin” as a song reflecting the complexities of being in love with someone who is constantly traversing the globe. He elaborated, “This is a song I wrote about being in love with someone you keep circling around the globe, relentlessly traveling through the air and down highways, and then returning home alone to middle America.” He praised Amelia Meath for her remarkable contribution, stating, “Her presence is so special that her ‘backing vocals’ can’t help but take the lead.”
Accompanying the album, writer Rachel Kushner has penned an essay titled Field Guide to the North American Troubadour, which delves into the themes presented in Little Wide Open. Fans can look forward to an extensive tour beginning in May, where Morby will perform across Europe and North America until mid-July. Scroll down for a complete list of his upcoming shows.
