AceShowbiz - The band led by Gene Gallagher,
Launching their journey at the close of 2025, Villanelle first introduced fans to their sound with singles Hinge and the atmospheric follow-up Measly Means. Now, they are ready to take the next step with their upcoming EP, featuring their latest track Placebo, which they describe as embodying “heightened visualizations of post-session anxiety.”
The song sees Villanelle maintain their distinctive approach, merging immersive soundscapes with catchy, memorable hooks. With Gallagher delivering his signature charismatic vocals, guitarist Ben Taylor and bassist Jack Schiavo craft a powerful sonic experience, drawing inspiration from grunge legends such as Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. The combination of intense, distorted guitars and laid-back vocals culminates in a massive chorus, featuring the lines: “It’s that time/ Don’t let go/ It’s a lie/ Placebo.”
In addition to the new single, Villanelle has confirmed that their eagerly awaited debut EP will be released on May 6. This project will include their three most recent singles, with additional details to be unveiled soon.
As 2026 unfolds, it’s clear that this year is poised to be significant for the emerging UK band. They kicked off January by wrapping up a tour with Miles Kane and have slated a performance at a BBC Music Introducing Presents show in London on March 5.
