AceShowbiz - Jill Zarin has officially been removed from the upcoming spin-off series The Golden Life, following her critical comments about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance. The announcement came from Blink49 Studios on February 10, just days after Zarin made her remarks in a now-deleted social media video.
In their statement shared on Instagram, the studio said, “In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
The series, set in Palm Beach, was set to feature other notable alumni from the Real Housewives of New York franchise, including Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan. The show had just been announced on February 3 and had not yet begun filming.
Jill Zarin stirred controversy with a one-minute clip on her Instagram, where she labeled Bad Bunny’s performance as “the worst halftime show ever.” She expressed her discontent, stating, “It’s 250 years that we’re celebrating right now in the United States, and I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.”
In the video, Zarin further criticized the performance, saying, “And quite frankly, I didn’t need to see him grabbing his G-area. I think it was totally inappropriate. You’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl, and he doesn’t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds. Is he so insecure? Seriously. I don’t speak Spanish. I would have liked to understand the words he was saying.”
Moreover, she suggested that Bad Bunny was making a “political statement” during the Super Bowl show, observing, “To me, it looked like a political statement, because there were literally no white people in the entire thing. I think it was an ICE thing.”
Zarin didn’t stop there; she also expressed her disappointment with the NFL for booking Bad Bunny and took a jab at guest performer Lady Gaga, claiming she was unrecognizable post-surgery. “I didn’t recognize her! I literally had to Google her face to see who it was,” Zarin remarked.
Having been an original cast member of the Real Housewives of New York from 2008 to 2011, Jill Zarin has been a familiar face in reality television. Her comments about the Super Bowl halftime show have sparked considerable discussion and ultimately led to her exit from the new series.
