AceShowbiz - Too $hort recently welcomed Billboard to Oakland for the February 5 episode of Takes Us Out, where he treated us to a visit at Y’s Choice restaurant.
While enjoying some delicious turkey wings and seafood delicacies, the iconic rapper, known for his hit "Blow the Whistle," shared insights about the Bay Area as Super Bowl LX approaches in nearby Santa Clara, California.
“I would definitely get that Bridge vibe in because the beauty of the Bay is probably what stands out the most from NorCal and SoCal,” he remarked, suggesting must-visit spots for tourists. “Venture over to Ghirardelli Square or Pier 39 and hit one of them seafood joints, and the water’s right there. If you feel comfortable with it, come over to Oakland and take in some culture over here.”
During the conversation, Too $hort praised several notable figures from the Bay Area, referring to Zendaya as “family,” calling Ryan Coogler a “superhero,” and honoring MC Hammer. “Everything a rapper aspires to be right now is what he did and we collectively condemned him… He was ahead of the curve,” $hort admitted, reflecting on the legacy of the early '90s hip-hop star.
With Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, the 59-year-old Too $hort reminisced about attending a performance by the Puerto Rican sensation in 2024 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. He humorously noted being astonished by the impressive gathering of beautiful women at the event.
“We went up in there, and I think to this day, that is one of the best collections of beautiful women I’ve ever seen. I literally needed a neck brace the next day,” he joked. “I broke my neck.”
Relating to the sports world, Too $hort saw his anthem "Blow the Whistle" embraced by the Philadelphia Eagles fan base during their Super Bowl triumph last year. “People of Philadelphia didn’t even know the goddamn song, so it was like brand new, so I love the people of Philadelphia for that,” he expressed. “I give Gillie full credit for that; it had nothing to do with me. I flew out there to do a little clip with him, and as soon as I walked up, I was like, ‘What’s up man?’ He’s like, ‘I bet them streams looking good.’ I was like, ‘Goddamn right they looking good!’”
Fans can look forward to Too $hort and E-40 hitting the stage together for an exciting performance soon, further solidifying their status in the music scene.
