AceShowbiz - Praise be! The Testaments is set to grace our screens soon. Hulu has officially announced that the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid's Tale will premiere on Wednesday, April 8, with an exciting launch of three episodes followed by weekly releases of new episodes.

Set several years after the conclusion of The Handmaid's Tale in May 2025, The Testaments focuses on the story of Aunt Lydia, played by Ann Dowd, along with two young women whose lives are intertwined in complicated ways.

What is The Testaments About?

Based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, The Testaments takes place in Gilead 15 years after the narrative of The Handmaid's Tale. Central to the plot are Aunt Lydia and two young women, Daisy and Agnes. According to the official synopsis, the spinoff "is a coming of age story that finds a new generation of young women in Gilead grappling with the bleak future that awaits them."

Growing up in Gilead is all they've ever known, with no real memories of life outside of this oppressive regime. As they face the harsh reality of being married off and living in servitude, these young women will seek allies—both new and old—as they strive for freedom and the lives they deserve.

Which Handmaid's Tale Cast Members Will Join The Testaments?
