AceShowbiz - Charli XCX recently opened up about the possibility of contributing to the iconic James Bond soundtrack during her appearance on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show. The pop star, known for her innovative sound, was asked if she would be interested in creating a theme song for the upcoming Bond film, Bond 26.
In a candid response, Charli XCX expressed her reservations, stating, “I got to say, I don’t think that I am built for that. I think I probably sing with too much AutoTune to do a James Bond.” Despite her doubts, she added, “Never say never. I’m open to it if they want to call me, which they won’t but, yeah.” Although she feels it might not be the right fit, she remains optimistic about the future.
The next installment in the legendary spy series, Bond 26, is still shrouded in mystery. Acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is set to direct, but the casting for the titular role of James Bond remains uncertain. It has been five years since the release of the last film in the series, No Time to Die, marking the longest gap between entries in the franchise.
In the meantime, Charli XCX is busy promoting her work on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Wuthering Heights, which is scheduled to coincide with the film’s U.S. release on February 13, 2026. The soundtrack features a total of 12 songs, including a collaboration with Sky Ferreira.
During the interview, Charli XCX elaborated on how she got involved with the project. She shared, “Emerald [Fennell] kind of hit me up at the end of 2024. She just texted me, which was a bit of a surprise. We don’t really text that much, so I was like ‘Oh, hi, Emerald,’ and she told me about the screenplay.” Intrigued by the screenplay, she initially agreed to write one song, but her enthusiasm quickly grew.
“It just really was so alive to me on the page and I immediately felt inspired to kind of write more than just one song,” she explained. “I asked her whether she’d be interested in a whole album, and she said yes, and that was kind of the beginning.” The creative process was described as liberating, with Charli XCX feeling empowered to explore her artistic vision.
As her star continues to rise in Hollywood, the singer is also promoting her recent mockumentary, The Moment, which has garnered attention in the entertainment industry. With her unique style and fresh approach, Charli XCX is undoubtedly making her mark in both music and film.
