AceShowbiz - The DC Universe is about to experience a significant shift with Prime Video’s upcoming series, Bat-Fam, promising a fresh perspective on one of Batman’s most iconic villains. This animated show serves as a sequel to the 2023 film, Merry Little Batman, continuing Damian Wayne’s journey as "Little Batman" protecting Gotham during his father’s Justice League mission.
Bat-Fam focuses on the evolving family dynamic of Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, and their devoted butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Wayne Manor expands to include new residents: Alfred’s grandniece, Alicia Pennyworth, and, surprisingly, iconic rogues Ra's Al Ghul and Man-Bat. The series explores how this unconventional household balances personal lives with safeguarding Gotham from its colorful foes.
The ensemble cast sees Luke Wilson, Yonas Kibreab, and James Cromwell return as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Little Batman/Damian Wayne, and Alfred Pennyworth. New voices include Haley Tju as Claire Selton/Volcana, London Hughes as Alicia, Michael Benyaer as Ra's Al Ghul, and Saturday Night Live veteran Bobby Moynihan as Man-Bat. Mike Roth, director of Merry Little Batman, returns as executive producer and showrunner.
At New York Comic Con 2025, an interview with Bobby Moynihan, London Hughes, Yonas Kibreab, and Mike Roth highlighted a groundbreaking aspect: Bat-Fam is set to fundamentally change how audiences perceive Man-Bat. Traditionally known for his terrifying nature in DC comics and games, this new portrayal promises to move far beyond his previously horrifying image, offering a completely transformed character.
Batman’s rogues’ gallery is celebrated for its diverse antagonists. While Man-Bat has consistently stood out as one of the most frightening – notably for his infamous jump scare in Arkham Knight – Bat-Fam aims to dismantle this long-standing perception. The show will present Man-Bat not as the horrifying foe he once was, but in a completely new light, offering a fresh, unexpected dimension to the character.
