Rapper 50 Cent is taking legal action against filmmaker Ryan Kavanaugh and his company, accusing them of failing to pay him for his role in new movie 'Skillhouse'.

AceShowbiz - Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has launched a lawsuit against Ryan Kavanaugh and his GenTV streamer, alleging that the filmmaker-producer failed to compensate him for his role in the upcoming horror movie "Skillhouse."

Jackson, who filmed scenes for the movie alongside his son, claims he did so based on a good-faith belief in Kavanaugh's promises. However, no final agreement was ever signed, a move Jackson says was a serious breach of trust.

Jackson is seeking at least $5 million in damages from Kavanaugh and GenTV, accusing them of not only neglecting payment but also illegally exploiting his name for promotional purposes.

According to Jackson, "Defendants have billed Jackson as the star and producer of the Film," despite no formal agreement. The rapper also alleges trademark infringement, false advertising, and unfair competition.

The lawsuit paints Kavanaugh and GenTV as opportunists looking to capitalize on Jackson's reputation to boost their film's visibility. Jackson's lawyer, Jonathan Loeb, notes that the marketing material labeled "Skillhouse" as a "50 Cent movie," a move that Jackson claims he "never would have agreed to allow his intellectual property to be used in such a manner."

Jackson is particularly concerned about the film's promotional strategies. GenTV allegedly plans to use "Skillhouse" to unfairly compete with Jackson's other ventures, including his 50 Cent Action streaming channel, a partnership with Lionsgate.

Kavanaugh, once a prolific film financier behind movies like "The Social Network" and "Step Brothers," filed for bankruptcy in 2015. Meanwhile, Jackson has carved out a reputable career as a producer with shows like "Power" and "Black Mafia Family".

In now-deleted Instagram posts, Jackson expressed his frustration towards Kavanaugh. "I didn't get paid. I'm afraid I'm gonna need that by Monday," he wrote before adding that the movie "was going in the trash can" if the issue was not resolved.

He later shared a new post, "Hate to make a mess of this movie but 🤨where is the money. F**k outta here!"

"Skillhouse," which explores the dark side of social media, featuring influencers trapped in life-threatening situations, is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.
