AceShowbiz - Kanye West, now going by the name Ye, made a startling revelation on X while announcing his new song "Cousins." The track and its accompanying visual are both intense and troubling, depicting harsh imagery and recounting a series of disturbing experiences from Ye's younger days.
According to Ye, the song is about his sexual relationship with his male cousin during their childhood. West explained in the post that he and his cousin, incarcerated for life for murdering a pregnant woman, used to look at explicit magazines together. Ye felt guilty, believing he played a role in his cousin's downfall because of this shared experience.
"Perhaps in my self centered mess I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines when he was 6 and then we acted out what we saw," Kanye wrote. He added, "My name is Ye and I sucked my cousins d**k till I was 14. Tweet sent."
Analyzing the song's lyrics reveals more about Kanye's alarming childhood. "We seen two [expletive] kissing, we ain't know what that [expletive] mean," he raps, "Then we start reenacting everything that we had seen / That's when I gave my cousin [expletive]."
This confession continues with a repeated plea for understanding while he's insisting that he is not attracted to men.
Both Kanye West and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, have previously spoken about his now-incarcerated cousin. In past interviews, Kanye expressed his love for his cousin despite the heinous crime.
Addressing more of his tumultuous upbringing, Kanye also shared anecdotes about his abusive childhood in a series of posts. While he describes the physical discipline he received as a child, he acknowledges the confusion and pain it brought him.
The intense visual that accompanies "Cousins" is equally provocative, featuring home videos, racy images, and unsettling symbols such as a burning cross and footage of gun violence. All these elements underscore the heavy and dark themes of the song.
While some may view the disclosures as an attempt to gain publicity or provoke, others may see a man grappling with past trauma and coming to terms with it in the only way he knows - through his music.
