AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle has launched her new podcast "Confessions of a Female Founder" with an eye-opening first episode featuring Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, and Wolfe Herd, 35, delved into their shared experiences of postpartum preeclampsia and the pressures of being working mothers.
During their conversation, Markle and Wolfe Herd discussed the challenges they faced juggling public responsibilities and personal health scares. "It's so rare and so scary," Markle said, detailing the life-threatening condition characterized by high blood pressure and excess protein in the urine shortly after giving birth. Wolfe Herd echoed, "I mean life or death, truly."
The first episode, released via Lemonada Media, marks Markle's second foray into podcasting after her previous show "Archetypes," which aired on Spotify. The new podcast aims to explore the entrepreneurial journeys of female founders while addressing significant personal hurdles.
In recounting Prince Archie's public debut just two days after his birth in May 2019, Wolfe Herd was struck by Markle's resilience. "I was like, 'Oh my God, how is this woman doing this? How is this woman putting on heels and going and debuting a child in this beautiful outfit in front of the entire world?' "
Both women recognized the immense pressure new mothers face and the quiet struggles that often remain unseen by the public. "Can I be back in my cocoon?" Markle chimed in as she agreed with Wolfe Herd who wanted to hole up without seeing anyone amid struggle with postpartum.
Markle also opened up about her current daily life, balancing her new venture, the As Ever lifestyle brand, with motherhood. "Lili still naps, she gets picked up early and she naps. She only has a half day in preschool. If she wakes up and wants to find me, she knows where to find me, even if my door is closed to the office," she shared.
Wolfe Herd commended the benefits of technology for parents, enabling them to multitask effectively even from unconventional workspaces.
The new podcast series promises to bring more inspirational stories from female entrepreneurs over eight episodes, offering insights and shared experiences. Markle's entrepreneurial journey, inspired by peers who turned small ideas into impactful businesses, serves as a testament to the power of resilience and community among women in business.
Markle's partnership with Lemonada Media follows her split from Spotify in 2023. "Confessions of a Female Founder" marks a fresh start, aiming to inspire and connect with an audience of women navigating similar paths.
As young entrepreneurs and budding professionals tune in, they'll find a blend of vulnerability, strength, and invaluable lessons from two women who continue to break barriers both personally and professionally.
