AceShowbiz - Lucy Dacus, a member of the band Boygenius, recently confirmed the much-speculated rumor that she was indeed the "Lucy" mentioned in the title track of Taylor Swift's 2024 album, "The Tortured Poets Department."

In an interview with People, Dacus revealed that Swift had personally reached out to her for permission before the album's release.

In the song believed to be a jab at former flame Matty Healy who happens to be a friend of Lucy's, Swift sings, "Sometimes, I wonder if you're gonna screw this up with me / But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave / And I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen / Everyone we know understands why it's meant to be / 'Cause we're crazy."

Fans quickly determined that the "Jack" mentioned was likely Jack Antonoff, Swift's long-time producer.

Dacus reflected on the surreal experience of hearing her name in Swift's song. "This is the first Taylor record to come out since meeting her, and listening to a friend's record feels so much different than a stranger's record,” she said.

"It was definitely an experience. I sat down and I was like, 'Huh. Wow.' But I think that that record of hers is super open-hearted, and I don't know how many people at her level, if anyone is at her level, are writing from the heart that openly."

Swift and Healy had a brief but highly publicized romance in 2023, following Swift's breakup with Joe Alwyn. The album features several tracks believed to be about Healy, including "Guilty as Sin?" and "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived."

Lucy Dacus was not the only musician mentioned by Taylor Swift in her latest album though. The pop star also gave a shoutout to Charlie Puth.
