AceShowbiz - Amidst the highs and lows of life, Katie Thurston, known for her stint as "The Bachelorette", has found her anchor in comedian Jeff Arcuri. The couple recently announced their marriage on March 23, sharing the joyous news on social media.
The intimate backyard ceremony at their home on March 22 was a symbol of their deep bond, with their newly adopted puppy Charlie and their parents in attendance.
Two days before the ceremony, Arcuri told Us Weekly how they have grown closer since Thurston's stage 3 cancer diagnosis, "You would think it would cause more tribulation or problems between you, but it's bonded us more than anything else, which is why we're moving up the wedding a little bit."
Jeff's unwavering support has been a constant source of strength for Katie. Reflecting on his commitment, Katie said, "It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health. He is proving that he's here to stay. He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise."
The couple's journey, filled with humor and resilience, began a year ago when Katie sent her friends a clip of Jeff's stand-up comedy, jokingly calling him her "future husband."
Fast forward to their first in-person meeting in May 2024 and an engagement by August, their relationship has been marked by genuine connection and mutual respect.
"Sometimes when you're in a relationship early on, you feel like you're being dishonest or there's a vibe of 10 percent things you don't know about them yet. And I never felt that with her," Arcuri shared.
Katie's battle with cancer has not been easy, but the couple has faced every challenge head-on. Katie, who will participate in the I-Spy cancer trial, dedicated two weeks to fertility treatments before starting chemotherapy.
"Knowing that we wanted kids in the future, we thought, 'OK, let's do IVF just to have that option,' "she explained. The process yielded six embryos, ensuring the couple can look forward to building a family post-treatment.
Jeff's support extends beyond emotional encouragement; he's been by Katie's side at every medical appointment. "I want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, 'My wife's in there.' There's more power to that," Jeff stated.
Their story has inspired many, with Bachelor Nation rallying around Katie. Her openness about her diagnosis and treatment has encouraged others to seek medical advice, a testament to her strength and influence.
The couple plans to have a larger wedding celebration with personalized vows after Katie beats cancer.
