What happens when Hollywood veterans clash with new industry standards? Gwyneth Paltrow shares her old-school approach to filming intimate scenes alongside co-star Timothee Chalamet.

AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow discussed her experience working alongside Timothee Chalamet in the upcoming A24 film "Marty Supreme," shedding light on how modern-day intimacy coordinators intersect with old-school filmmaking techniques.

Directed by Josh Safdie, "Marty Supreme" is an anticipated biographical film inspired by the life of ping-pong player Marty Reisman, where Chalamet plays the titular role of Marty Mauser.

Intimacy coordinators - a position that gained prominence following the #MeToo movement - are professionals hired to facilitate communication between actors and directors during intimate scenes, ensuring the comfort and consent of all involved.

However, Paltrow and Chalamet seemed to navigate their intimate scenes with ease, with her emphasizing that she was from an era where actors stripped down and got in bed while "the camera's on."

Feeling confident in managing the scenes by themselves, she recalled in an interview with Vanity Fair, "We said, 'I think we're good. You can step a little bit back,' "

She elaborated why she didn't feel the need for the coordinators, "I don't know how it is for kids who are starting out, but…if someone is like, 'Okay, and then he's going to put his hand here' … I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that."

The conversation also gave insight into Paltrow's admiration for Chalamet. She applauded her young co-star for his professionalism and respectful demeanor. "He's just a very polite, properly raised, I was going to say kid … He's a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner," she said.

"Marty Supreme" promises a unique blend of talent beyond Paltrow and Chalamet, with an eclectic cast including Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A'zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O'Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. The film is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2025, and is wrapped in anticipation, given its intriguing storyline and star-studded lineup.
