Titled "Spider-Noir", the forthcoming Amazon MGM Studios show will see screen icon Nicolas Cage step into the shoes of Ben Reilly, a private investigator with a secret superhero identity.

Unlike previous portrayals, this series sets itself apart by paying homage to classic film noir aesthetics, with a potential release in black and white.

Speaking exclusively with ComingSoon, cast member Lukas Haas, who has landed a mysterious role in the series, provided insights into the production's unique approach. "It was just an incredible project," Haas said. "Everybody involved was amazing. Brendan Gleeson, he plays my boss. Just getting to, to do that noir thing. It was very genuine film noir, the way they filmed it, like the long shadows."

Haas continued to elaborate on the film's authentic feel, revealing that the monitors used during filming displayed footage in black and white. "We filmed it in - I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling and it looked very, very authentic."

"To the point that I would actually go and look at the monitor and think I was looking at some older footage, but it was actually just a monitor of what was on the camera at the time. They did a beautiful job with the filters and all that stuff, making it look like genuine old 1930s, black and white film," he added.

"Spider-Noir" promises a thrilling narrative set in 1930s New York, following an ageing, down-on-his-luck private investigator who is forced to confront his past life as the city's only superhero.

This intriguing premise, coupled with the stellar cast including Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, and Jack Huston, ensures that the show is set to be a beacon of innovation in Marvel adaptations.

The series, co-showrun by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot with Harry Bradbeer directing and executive producing the first two episodes, promises to stay true to the essence of noir storytelling.

With critical eyes on the project after the lukewarm reception of recent Marvel movies like "Madame Web" and "Kraven the Hunter", "Spider-Noir" aims to both dazzle and set a new benchmark for future Marvel small screen projects.
