AceShowbiz - Shakira is currently on her first global tour in seven years, but the journey has hit some snags. Her planned February 24 performance at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín, Colombia, has been called off.
Event organizers Páramo Presenta informed fans that the stage roof, installed by a local production team, had suffered damage, raising safety concerns for Shakira, her crew, and the audience.
In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Shakira apologized to her fans, "My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to."
"My children were excited to get to know Medellín, and I was excited to meet you again and share all the surprises I had prepared for them. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled. It's out of my hands and those of my production team, but I'm sure we'll soon find a new date to celebrate together.”
This is not the first hiccup Shakira's "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" (Women Don't Cry Anymore) tour has encountered. Just last week, Shakira canceled a concert in Lima, Peru, after a hospitalization for an abdominal pain.
Despite these setbacks, Shakira's resolve remains strong. Her tour, which commenced in Rio de Janeiro shortly after she received a Grammy for the best Latin pop album, has been greeted with much fanfare and enthusiasm.
Shakira's homecoming performance in Barranquilla saw tens of thousands of fans at the Metropolitano Stadium, eagerly welcoming the star. The artist, known for her electrifying stage presence and immense contributions to Latin music, continues to inspire millions worldwide. With over 90 million records sold, Shakira's influence in the music industry is undeniable.
As her team works diligently to reschedule the Medellín concert, Páramo Presenta reassures fans that new tour dates will be announced soon. "Together with Shakira's team, we are working on new concerts for Colombia in the second half of this year, news that will be celebrated by more than one city in the country," they wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, Shakira's next performances are scheduled to take place in Bogotá, with back-to-back shows on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the recent challenges, fans eagerly await the return of their beloved artist to the stage, ready to celebrate her musical journey.
