However, "The Substance," a body horror satire, served as a catalyst for Moore's career resurgence. The script presented a transformative role that pushed her beyond her comfort zone and reignited her passion for acting. Moore's performance as Elisabeth Sparkle, a fading star desperate to recapture her youth, earned her the long-elusive recognition from her peers.
"As I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance. And the universe told me, 'You're not done,' " she remembered.
"In those moments when we don't think we are enough, I had a woman say to me, 'Just know, you will never be enough. But you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.' "
Moore's victory is not only a personal triumph but also a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of silencing negative voices. Her story is a reminder that it is never too late to reclaim your rightful place in the world, regardless of past obstacles.
