According to a report, James Bond producers will likely name the 'Challengers' actor as the new 007, replacing Daniel Craig, for an upcoming 26th installment.

AceShowbiz - As speculation keeps running rampant on who will be the next James Bond, an unlikely person has been thrown into the ring. According to a recent report, Josh O'Connor might be announced as the new 007 by Bond series producers in 2025.

The InSneider recently said that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was no longer in the running to play James Bond. Supporting the claim, in its prediction, The Hollywood Reporter noted, "A loose consensus formed around Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Aaron Johnson). But Bond series producer Barbara Broccoli has always led from the gut, not caved to popular opinion."

"2025 will thus be the year we finally learn the identity of the new James Bond, and it will not be Taylor-Johnson. It will be an English actor poised on the cusp of superstardom - familiar to audiences but not too familiar, with a seductive smile, ease with a tossed-off one-liner and charisma to spare," it explained, before stating, "The next James Bond will be Josh O'Connor."

The prediction is interesting as O'Connor and Daniel Craig, the last Bond depicter, were recently featured in conversation as part of Variety's "Actors on Actors" series. O'Connor and Craig also starred in Luca Guadagnino's movies, "Challengers" and "Queer" respectively, which were released in 2024.

However, fans might need to brace themselves for a longer wait than anticipated for a new Bond film as a recent report suggested that a bitter feud between franchise producer Barbara Broccoli and Amazon is holding up production on the next installment.

Broccoli, who inherited the rights to the Bond series from her father Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, has found herself at odds with Amazon after the tech giant acquired MGM in 2022. According to multiple reports, including a detailed account from The Wall Street Journal, the crux of the conflict lies in creative differences.

Broccoli reportedly resents Amazon's "algorithm-centric" approach, feeling it clashes with her vision for Bond, which leans heavily on theatrical, big-screen storytelling. Amazon's suggestions for multiple spin-offs and a Marvel-like expansion of the franchise have compounded these tensions.

"She has told friends she doesn't trust algorithm-centric Amazon with a character she helped to mythologize through big-screen storytelling and gut instinct," the report divulged. Broccoli has allegedly referred to Amazon executives in unflattering terms and taking offense when one of them described the James Bond franchise as "content."
