AceShowbiz - SZA wants no one saying something unpleasant to Punch. The "Kill Bill" hitmaker warned social media users against attacking Punch, whose real name is Terrence Henderson, after confirming her split from her manager.
Recently, the 35-year-old singer/songwriter revealed that she has parted ways with the president of independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment or TDE. In the comments section of an Instagram post, she wrote, "And to be clear I love punch deeply ! NO ONE should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf ."
SZA went on to say, "Sometimes ppl grow apart and that's okay," adding a red heart emoji. In a separate comment, she penned, "Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era . I wish him the best whatever his choices may be," before adding more red heart emojis.
On the same social media platform, SZA received a question from a fan about the release of her songs. The question read, "we luv uuu!! what's this mean about the tracks releasing tonight tho?" making a reference to "PSA" and "Take You Down".
In response, SZA explained, "those were tracks punch and I spoke about releasing together prior. Obviously he stepped away abruptly so sorting the drop out was a bit tricky. Pls Give me a second .. they'll be loaded [a red heart emoji]."
After sharing the shocking news, SZA received support from many social media users. One in particular wrote, "she needed better management anyway sza is huge right now and could be so much bigger with great management he was holding her back." Similarly, another chimed in, "Her manager was holding her back lol glad she dropped him."
A third argued, "im sure he was the main reason 'LANA' was released a day late." A fourth added, "Take all the time you need (obviously not too much time lol). There's no rush & don't let punch pressure you into anything. Glad y'all parted ways. You have sole creative decision on your career!"
