AceShowbiz - Years after appearing as a lead on "The Bachelorette" alongside Gabby Windey, Rachel Recchia revisited her past experience on the show in surprising ways. On a recent episode of the "Almost Famous" podcast, Rachel, 28, revealed that a former contestant who rejected her rose reached out via Instagram.
"I got a DM from one of these guys who rejected my rose," she shared, noting the message was sent and then deleted, although she managed to screenshot it.
Rachel found the message perplexing and shared, "If you're going to send a message like that, which he's also kind of apologizing in a way, say it with your full chest."
The message began with, "Yo. What's up Rachel, so random, I know. I was literally just thinking about my time at the Bach house and all the regrets I have from not seeing things through. I definitely had to reach out because it's something on my mind, and is something I've thought about for a couple years. What could've been and how fun things could have/be." He concluded by suggesting they meet up and reconnect, "So I'm just reaching out to see if you'd be down to chill and grab a drink or two and vibe out."
Reflecting on this, Rachel explained that she believes the contestant regrets not fully experiencing the show. She remarked, "I'm like, 'You didn't even give me a shot and so I will not be giving you a shot now,' " acknowledging the potential of what might have been.
She also recounted her experience as a lead, describing the rose ceremony where her rose was turned down by the guys as "the most humiliating night" of her life. "Your confidence is already like, 'Do these guys like me?' I'm so nervous, I'm doing this for the first time," she said. The rejection from multiple men left her feeling disheartened.
Rachel suggested that men on the show often sought to maintain control. "They're so used to being the one to be the pursuer and it's when it's in our hands, I feel like it takes their masculinity away," she noted.
She thinks the fear of rejection led some contestants to leave prematurely. Despite these challenges, Rachel concluded her season with a proposal from Tino Franco although their relationship ended when Tino kissed another woman during a difficult period.
On a lighter note, Rachel enjoys engaging with fans and humorously responded to a TikTok user who recreated her breakup with Tino Franco. Through all the personal and public ups and downs, Rachel continues to navigate life beyond reality TV, often taking the high road and encouraging compassion for herself and her former partners.
