The president-elect dismisses any suggestion that he's being usurped by his high-profile billionaire ally, leading social media users to speculate that tension is soon to be brewing between the two.

AceShowbiz - Donald Trump has addressed the notion that he is being overshadowed by Elon Musk, his high-profile billionaire ally. Speaking at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest conference in Phoenix on Sunday, December 22, he dismissed the idea that he has "ceded the presidency" to Musk, calling it pure fiction.
"And no, he's not taking the presidency," the 78-year-old responded to the criticisms for the first time, adding that the suggestion was another "hoax" pushed by his political opponents.
Trump later noted that there is no chance for Musk to take over as president because of the Constitution's requirement that the U.S. president be a natural-born citizen. The X owner was born in South Africa. He is Canadian through his mother Maye and became a U.S. citizen in 2002.
"No, he's not going to be president, that I can tell you," Trump stated. "And I'm safe. You know why he can't be? He wasn't born in this country," he stressed.
Trump shot down any talk that he's being usurped by Musk days after the Tesla and SpaceX owner, alongside the president-elect, played a role in throwing a wrench into an emergency spending plan to prevent a government shutdown.
While Musk has been one of Trump's biggest supporters during his campaign for the recent presidential election, people sense that a tension could be soon brewing between the two following Trump's remarks.
"The girls are fighting," one Instagram user quipped. Another said, "Let the fall out between Trump and Musk begin." A third predicted, "Yhey're going to CLASH VERY SOON...Ima have my drink and [popcorn] ready..."
"This s**t bout to be crazy. We laughing now but smh," someone weighed in. A fourth poked fun at the situation, "I see a cat fight coming on real soon. Trumps seeing these memes."
"I can see that this is not ending well for the White House power couple," another user chimed in, while one other added, "And their fall out will happen even sooner than I could have expected…"
