AceShowbiz - David Murphey, a veteran, small business owner and software engineer, died at his home in Las Vegas on December 11. His family announced the news through a statement on social media, revealing that Murphey had been "experiencing health issues over the last several years." He was 66.
Murphey made his mark in season 4 of "90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days", where he traveled to Ukraine to meet his long-time online girlfriend Lana. Despite multiple attempts to meet her in person, they finally connected, leading to an airport proposal and a brief engagement. Murphey shared on the spin-off "90 Day Diaries" that their relationship ended because Lana did not meet the conditions he had set for their engagement.
"She thought that, 'Well, now that we're engaged, now you can help me do the things that you promised,' like, get her some English lessons, actually move her into an apartment," Murphey explained. "But part of my conditions for doing that was to get her off the [dating] website and she didn't get off the websites, so I didn't offer any of those bonuses, so four months into our engagement, we just stopped communicating."
After his reality TV stint, Murphey turned his focus to traveling across the nation, frequently sharing his adventures with fans on Instagram. However, his health began to decline, and by 2022, he had been hospitalized several times with issues including blood clots in his lungs and blockages in his liver and pancreas.
Murphey's Instagram Live sessions painted a picture of his struggles. "My liver's not working right," he shared in 2023, adding that doctors couldn't pinpoint the issue. "I've been really out of commission. I've been canceling all these trips," he told his followers.
Despite his health battles, Murphey remained a beloved figure. His family emphasized his "fierce love for cats," urging those who wished to honor his memory to donate to the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas. He is survived by his two sisters and his cherished cat, Gamera.
