The buzz-worthy historical drama, 'Shogun,' continues its triumphant awards season journey by leading the pack in nominations for the 2025 Critics Choice TV Awards, exemplifying the show's massive cultural impact.

AceShowbiz - FX's critically acclaimed series "Shogun" has taken the television world by storm, this time sweeping up six nominations at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. This comes on the heels of breaking an Emmy record by bagging 18 awards in a single season.
The series, set against the backdrop of 17th-century Japan, is up for Best Drama Series alongside other heavyweights like "The Day of the Jackal," "The Diplomat," "Evil," "Industry," "Interview With the Vampire," "The Old Man," and "Slow Horses."
"Abbott Elementary," "Disclaimer," "Hacks," "The Diplomat," "The Penguin," and "What We Do in the Shadows" each received four nominations, making them the closest contenders following "Shogun."
Netflix scored the highest number of overall nominations with 23 while HBO/Max followed closely with 21. FX and Apple TV+ also had strong showings with 13 and 12 nominations respectively.
As for individual acting nominations, "Shōgun" stars have a strong presence. Hiroyuki Sanada is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series while Anna Sawai vies for both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her roles in "Shōgun" and "Pachinko," respectively.
The supporting cast did not go unnoticed either, with Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira both contending for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and Moeka Hoshi up for Best Supporting Actress.
Besides drama, the comedy and limited series categories are packed with notable nominations. "Abbott Elementary," "English Teacher," and "Hacks" are some of the standout nominees for Best Comedy Series. For limited series, "Disclaimer" and "The Penguin" lead the nominations, competing against "Baby Reindeer," "Masters of the Air," "Mr. Bates vs. the Post Office," "Ripley," "True Detective: Night Country," and "We Were the Lucky Ones."
The Critics Choice Awards will be broadcast on E! on January 12, 2025, with Chelsea Handler as the host. All eyes will be on "Shōgun" to see if it can continue its extraordinary run of award-winning success.
