AceShowbiz - Drake apparently is doing Kendrick Lamar a favor by filing a lawsuit over "Not Like Us". According to DJ Akademiks, the "Hotline Bling" hitmaker has boosted the sales of his nemesis' latest album with the lawsuit.
Recently, the disc jockey shared his response to K.Dot's "GNX" first-week sales projections. During a livestream, he blamed the wrong timing of Drizzy's lawsuit for the record's huge sales. He allegedly told his viewers, "I told y'all that f**kin' lawsuit was the f**kin' worse timing."
Comparing "GNX" sales to that of Drake's latest album "For All the Dogs", Akademiks went on to say, "We need a win right now, and the win is that that n***a in his biggest moment ever, can't f**k with Drake. We did 400K. He can't f**k with us, we different. Okay? He's getting a little bit close, so I'm gonna stop talking about it right now."
The statement came amid discussions surrounding the success of "GNX", which is "reportedly projected to have sold between 310K and 325K in its first week." It was recently reported that "eight songs from the project are expected to land in the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart." Furthermore, it was said that "squabble up" potentially debuts at No. 1 on the tally.
Not stopping there, it was revealed on Friday, November 29 that the surprise album makes its debut on the OffIcial U.K. Albums Chart. The record becomes his second No. 1 album on the tally.
Aside from "GNX", Drake's lawsuit seemingly has a good impact on Kendrick's diss track against the Canadian star titled "Not Like Us". Talk of The Charts revealed via X, formerly known as Twitter, that the hit song is "expected to see roughly a 440% increase in U.S. sales and a 20% increase in U.S. streams this week."
On November 25, Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group and Spotify, accusing the two of wrongdoing during his feud against Kendrick. He alleged that UMG engaged in a "scheme" to manipulate the success of "Not Like Us". In response, UMG issued a statement to Variety, calling the Canadian hip-hop artist's accusations "offensive."
