AceShowbiz - Mina Caputo, 50, previously known as Keith Caputo, revealed in a 13-minute video posted on Instagram on November 19th that she will be living life as a male again. She stated that she has been off hormones for six or seven years and that her full detransition process will be complete next year with a scheduled surgery to remove her breast implants.
Caputo began identifying as Mina in 2008 and publicly came out as transgender in 2011. She attributed her decision to detransition to a sense of freedom and healing after years of struggling with gender dysphoria. Caputo expressed her disapproval of transitioning children medically and surgically and shared that she wished someone like Joe Rogan could interview her to discuss her experiences in depth.
Her decision has drawn support from her bandmates, including LIFE OF AGONY's bassist Alan Robert, who expressed pride in her journey. The singer has also faced criticism from those who question her decision, but Caputo remains firm that she is living her most authentic life.
Numerous peer-reviewed scientific studies have shown that less than one percent of trans people who receive gender-affirming surgeries regret their decision, while a significantly higher percentage of patients who receive other forms of surgery do.
Caputo's journey highlights the complex and personal nature of gender identity and the importance of individual experiences and perspectives.
