AceShowbiz - Drake apparently wasn't happy with his character on "Degrassi: The Next Generation". Former "Degrassi" writer claimed that the "In My Feelings" rapper considered taking a legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify if they didn't change his character Jimmy's wheelchair storyline.

James Hurst recalled in an interview with The AV Club, "There was a letter from a law firm in Toronto, and it was from Aubrey." According to the writer, Drizzy threatened that he wouldn't return to the series "unless his [character's] injury is healed, and he's out of the wheelchair."

According to James, he later confronted Drake about the letter, prompting the Canadian star to admit that he didn't like the storyline that his character had been given. "He's like, 'All my friends in the rap game say I'm soft because I'm in a wheelchair,' " James stated. "I said, 'Tell your friends in the rap game that you got shot. How much harder can you get? You got shot, and you're in a wheelchair.' "

James noted that the "U My Everything" spitter is "nice" and "apologetic" before he realized what the show was going for. The writer revealed that he wanted to prove there's nothing wrong with being in a wheelchair by taking the "coolest" kid on the show.

James claimed that Drake only needed to be convinced in one arc, sharing that the musician was hesitant when it came to rapping as his character on the show. Drake, however, eventually came around.

In the interview, James additionally claimed that the show's creators discussed Jimmy regaining mobility. Writers debated if the character could undergo a surgery to assist with healing. Stefan Brogren, who played Snake and directed episodes, added, "Eventually, we compromised, showing Jimmy using crutches and starting to regain some mobility."

Internet users quickly trolled Drake upon learning of the news. "He said y'all finna make this lame walk!" one wrote in an Instagram comment. "Him saying that being wheelchair bound makes someone soft is nefarious work," another said.
