AceShowbiz - Bishop T.D. Jakes has been accused of faking his recent medical emergency that has got people concerned. Amid outpouring support and prayers for the 67-year-old, someone claimed that he might have faked his health scare to get more people to the church.
Speaking anonymously to Media Take Out, a former member of the Potter House church suspects that T.D. Jakes' illness may have been faked because his church attendance has declined since the COVID pandemic.
The former congregant explained, "TD Jakes used to have thousands of people coming to his church and tithing every Sunday. Since Covid the numbers started going down. And after the [P. Diddy] rumors, they went down even further."
It is said that the amount of tithes collected is also down substantially. The church, which has seating for 8,000 people, only has a few hundred people on a Sunday. The insider added, "People are going to start coming to church again after this. Is it a coincidence, or was it planned. I can't say, but I have my suspicions."
Meanwhile, multiple members of the church gave an update on T.D. Jakes' condition, saying that it doesn't appear he's had either a stroke or a heart attack. Doctors reportedly believe that he is suffering from exhaustion. According to the report, the pastor has been recovering from a prior illness and he was not quite ready to be in the pulpit on Sunday, November 24.
On Sunday, T.D. Jakes delivered a sermon in Dallas when he abruptly fell silent and began shaking involuntarily in his seat. The livestream video capturing this moment showed immediate concern from church attendees, who rushed to his aid as a voice off-camera urged both the in-person and online audience to start praying for him.
Following the medical emergency, his team issued a statement via Instagram that read, "During today's service, Bishop TD Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message." The update assured the public that the pastor is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The statement expressed gratitude for the community's outpouring of love, prayers and support.
T.D. Jakes' daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts has also spoken up on her father's condition. "Hey, family. I know that today has been an interesting day for us, but we didn't want to lay down without giving you all an update about how everything is going with Bishop," she said in a video message alongside her husband Toure Roberts, shared via Instagram on Sunday night. We want to thank you, first of all, for your prayers, your support, your concerns. It's truly been a blessing."
