AceShowbiz - Two decades after the release of Disney's beloved "Freaky Friday", Lindsay Lohan is reuniting with her on-screen mother, Jamie Lee Curtis, and her beloved high school garage band, Pink Slip, for the sequel, "Freakier Friday".
In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Falon]", Lohan confirmed that the band, which originally featured Christina Vidal as Maddie and Haley Hudson as Peg, is back together. She also revealed that filming wrapped in August and that the sequel is "more fun, more emotional, and it's all for you guys."
Curtis previously hinted that Lohan's character, Anna Coleman, performs a "monster hit" song in the film. According to Entertainment Weekly, she said, "There are some old favorites played in this movie."
The sequel picks up with Anna as a grown-up with a teenage daughter, while she also prepares to take on a stepdaughter in her new marriage. This new family dynamic sets the stage for another body swap adventure.
Lohan praised the sequel's humor, saying, "Jamie and I, even at the table read, we were just smiling so big. I don't think we were acting well because we were so happy. But, the movie is funny. It's really funny."
Alongside Lohan and Curtis, the sequel features returning cast members Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. Newcomers Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan have also joined the cast.
"Freakier Friday" is scheduled to hit theaters on August 8, 2025.
