Alex further invited friends and family to a candlelight vigil to be held in Rita's memory on December 7 at Heathcote Terrace in St. Catharines. "Following the vigil everyone is encouraged to attend the Christmas on the Terrace public event in support of Gillian's Place," he continued, encouraging donations of non-perishable food, children's clothing, toiletry items, or unwrapped children's presents in honor of Rita.

Friends and colleagues alike reminisced about her vivacious warmth and talent, emphasizing how she filled "everyone's heart with joy with every step she took."

Peter Sacco, a friend and attendee of Rita's wedding celebration, expressed his sorrow, echoing the sentiments of many, "Rita was so happy with you, and when she sang that night everything was so perfect. Rita will be deeply missed and I am so lucky to have known her and call her friend."

Alex concluded his tribute with poignant words, "Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. Until we meet again. You really did have the Time of your life." The news leaves a void in the hearts of many who cherished Rita's uplifting presence and committed spirit.
