AceShowbiz - Jason Kelce, the retired NFL star, took the stage at Lincoln Financial Field's Pepsi Plaza on Thursday, November 14, to perform with Mt. Joy before the Eagles' game against the Commanders. "What's up everybody!" Kelce exclaimed to the crowd. "Thank y'all for coming out."
Kelce explained that the performance was to promote his upcoming holiday album, "A Philly Special Christmas Party", which will be released on November 29. The project, in partnership with former Eagles teammates Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson, aims to raise funds for Philadelphia-area charities.
Despite initial hesitation, Kelce agreed to the performance, which had grown from a small parking lot gathering to a stage in the stadium.
The song, a festive reimagining of Mt. Joy's "Astrovan", was the first of several from the album to be released. Kelce's solo single, "Maybe This Christmas" with Stevie Nicks, recently dethroned Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as the number one Christmas song on the charts.
Proceeds from the "A Philly Special Christmas Party" vinyl and album sales will support organizations such as the Children's Crisis Treatment Center's Holiday Toy Drive and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Snowflake Station.
Kelce's musical endeavors have grown since his 2022 retirement, and he expressed awe at collaborating with icons like Stevie Nicks.
"It's incredible to work with Stevie Nicks," he said. "I'm still in awe of the fact that that actually happened. This is really, really cool."
While the Eagles faced an important game against the Commanders, Kelce emphasized the charitable aspect of the performance and the immense support for the team.
"I've fought my whole life to be the queen of Christmas," he joked. "The fact that we're finally here is just really special."
