AceShowbiz - Cardi B has joined the growing list of celebrities who have confirmed not receiving payment for their involvement in Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. On Thursday, November 14, the hip-hop star responded to conservative commentator Candace Owens' query about her compensation for a campaign event in Milwaukee.
"I didn't get paid a dollar," Cardi B wrote on social media. "I actually came out of pocket for glam and travel because it's somewhere I wanted to be."
Cardi B's denial of payment follows Oprah Winfrey's confirmation that she was not compensated for a $1 million livestream event she produced for the campaign although her production company was paid for its services and the money went to the workers involved in the project.
Despite the revelation that some celebrities have been paid for their support, Cardi B emphasized that her attendance at Harris' rally was a personal choice. "Like please girl you know damn well I'll argue you down about politics FOR FREE," she wrote to Owens.
Cardi B has been a vocal supporter of Harris throughout the campaign, thanking her after the election for being an "example of what the American dream should be."
She also issued a warning to Trump supporters, saying, "Y'all need to leave me the f**k alone. Because I got one more f**king cigarette in me before I start lighting your asses up."
Cardi B's endorsement of Harris highlights the role celebrities play in modern political campaigns. While some receive payment for their involvement, others like Cardi B choose to use their platforms to advocate for their beliefs without compensation.
