AceShowbiz - In a candid cover story for GQ magazine, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson addressed widespread speculations regarding his behavior on the set of his upcoming Christmas movie, "Red One." The Wrap earlier this year reported the actor's tardiness skyrocketed the film's budget to $250 million. Also, Johnson reportedly had a habit of peeing in water bottles and leaving assistants to discard them.
Johnson did not shy away from admitting to occasional tardiness, but he vehemently refuted the extent of his delays. Labeling the reported eight-hour delays as "crazy" and "ridiculous," he cleared the air on what he calls exaggerated accounts.
Addressing the water bottle controversies, Johnson stated, "Yeah. That happens…I've said a thousand times: 'Hey, I'm here. Come and ask me. And I'll tell you the truth.' " He, however, called "bulls***" on the rumors of his unprofessionalism.
In the face of these accusations, both "Red One" director Jake Kasdan and co-star Chris Evans have come to Johnson's defense. Kasdan praised Johnson's dedication, highlighting that, "He has a lot going on. He can be late sometimes, but such is Hollywood — that's the case with everybody. Honestly, I've made three big movies with him. I've never seen him be anything but great to every single person on the set."
Evans echoed Kasdan's sentiments, explaining that Johnson's morning workouts are well-known and integrated into the film's schedule. "It's not like he's late unexpectedly," Evans said. "He comes in slightly later on certain mornings, but it's part of the plan."
Going beyond the alleged shortcomings, Evans also shared a remarkable instance of Johnson's generosity on set. Johnson once gave away nearly $100,000 to various crew members to boost morale. "Dwayne said, 'You know what? Should we do it again? How about 30 this time?' Everyone goes nuts... and it was 50. I think on one Friday, Dwayne gave away something like close to a hundred thousand dollars."
Debunking the myths and spotlighting his true character, it's evident that Dwayne Johnson possesses a flair for not just acting, but also inspiring and lifting those around him. "Red One" is set to hit U.S. theaters on Nov. 15, and if anything's clear, it's that Johnson's work ethic and generosity will leave a lasting impact both on and off the screen.
