The 'Scream VI' actress will star in, while Ariel Escalante, who is known for helming 'Domingo and the Mist', will direct the Western thriller set in the brutal American West.

AceShowbiz - After starring in the horror rom-com "Your Monster" and the "Scream" movies, Melissa Barrera is set to lead Ariel Escalante's English-language debut, "In the Cradle of Granite".
Based on Jay Holmes' original screenplay, the Western film follows a young mother struggling to provide for her family after her husband dies. When she discovers the body of a wanted outlaw on her homestead, she strikes a deal with the bounty hunter who killed him and embarks on a dangerous journey to claim a big reward.
Balcony 9 Productions, Ad Lunam Ent and Gregory Thomas are producing the film. Joel David Moore, Rishi Bajaj, Daniel Taborga, Jonathan Sadowski, Daniel Pancotto, Chase Hinton, Lynette Gurule-Thomas and Michael Thomas are involved as producers and executive producers.
Barrera expressed her excitement to work with Escalante and praised Holmes' thrilling and hypnotizing script. Escalante, in turn, sees "In the Cradle of Granite" as an opportunity to present his directorial vision in the United States and explore themes of colonial violence.
Barrera recently appeared in "Abigail" and has upcoming projects with Kwame Kwei-Armah (drama 'The Collaboration") and James Wan and Simu Liu (a Peacock thriller series). Escalante, a Costa Rican filmmaker, previously helmed "The Sound of Things" and "Domingo and the Mist".
