AceShowbiz - During the filming of the iconic sitcom "The Brady Bunch", the cast members often had a blast on set. However, there was one incident that proved particularly unnerving for Christopher Knight, who played Peter Brady.
In the Season 4 episode titled "Pass the Tabu," Peter wakes up to find a tarantula crawling up his body. According to Knight, during a recent appearance on "Today", the producers lied to him about the spider, telling him that it had ball bearings on its fangs to prevent it from injecting venom.
"I was terrified, but I was a perfect kind of terrified because I got to prove my hero self to the ladies," Knight recalled. "I shouldn't let them know I'm scared to death."
Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, corroborated Knight's account, adding that the tarantula was real and had no protection under it. Williams, a self-proclaimed tarantula owner, felt compelled to protect the arachnid rather than smashing it.
"I had a tarantula as a pet and I didn't want it to be hurt, so I was able to scoop it up and let it land," Williams said.
Despite the terrifying incident, the cast of "The Brady Bunch" remains close-knit and celebrated the show's 55th anniversary on "Today". They also discussed the enduring relevance of the series, which focuses on how people can get along despite their differences.
"The show was about how can people get along? And I think that's a universal sort of brand and very appropriate today," Williams said.
The cast members also revealed that the show's podcast, "Real Brady Bros", has introduced the series to younger fans who relate to its themes of family and friendship.
