AceShowbiz - Coi Leray, a rising star in the hip-hop scene, is once again making waves, this time by publicly airing grievances against Billy J, co-founder of the now-defunct 1801 Records. Her explosive Instagram allegations highlight an ongoing struggle for artistic control and personal freedom.
From the outside looking in, Coi Leray embodies a fiercely independent spirit, unwilling to let anyone leech off her burgeoning success. This sentiment is evident in her well-documented strained relationship with her father, Benzino, who is no longer part of her life. Currently, she's embroiled in another fiery dispute, this time with Billy J, an industry veteran and co-founder of 1801 Records.
1801 Records, despite its promising start, met its demise in early 2022. However, Larson's association with the label seems to have left a prolonged sour taste. In a recent Instagram rant, she expressed frustration over a five-year-long ordeal with Billy J, claiming he has been trying to "take from me for the past 5 years."
Coi did not hold back in her scathing Instagram post: "Okay, so I will be going live today to explain how this guy has been trying to take over my life and ruin my career. There's nothing in this life I want more than this guy right here to leave me alone." She further stated that Billy J had done "nothing" for her career, despite his continuous interference.
Her Instagram tirade also revealed that she had signed a deal with 1801 Records at age 21 under misleading conditions. "Their lawyer didn't read me the correct terms," Coi lamented, emphasizing the harmful nature of their professional relationship.
The seriousness of Coi's frustration was palpable as she alerted her fans to "stay tuned" for more revelations. However, only Kmacklive, a former collaborator from 1801 Records, earned her praise. She noted that Kmacklive was supportive and had severed ties with Billy J peacefully. On the contrary, she described Billy J as the sole obstacle, "KMACK DOESN'T EVEN WORK WITH 1801 anymore and wants nothing to do with Billy J. The only person making this so hard is Billy J. It's crazy how sick people can be."
