AceShowbiz - The critically acclaimed "Monster" anthology series on Netflix has expanded its cast for season 3 with the additions of Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander and Olivia Williams. They join previously announced star Charlie Hunnam, who will play notorious killer Ed Gein.
Metcalf will embody Augusta, Gein's mother, while Hollander takes on the role of renowned filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. Williams portrays Alma Reville, Hitchcock's wife.
Details of the plot remain a secret, but it is believed that the third installment will shed light on Gein's crimes and their influence on Hitchcock's classic film "Psycho". Gein's macabre acts, including grave robbing and fashioning household items from human remains, provided inspiration for Norman Bates, the central character in Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece.
Metcalf has been widely recognized for her performances on "Roseanne", "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "Lady Bird", for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Hollander starred on "Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans", earning an Emmy nomination. Williams is known for her roles on "The Crown", "The Sixth Sense" and "An Education".
Production on season 3 of "Monster" commenced in October, following the successful debut of season 2, which focused on Lyle and Erik Menendez. The first season, titled "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story", became the third most-watched season of English language television on Netflix.
