Hale is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Roger Coleridge on ABC's "Ryan's Hope" from 1975 to 1989. His performance earned him Daytime Emmy Award nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a daytime drama series in 1979 and 1980.
After "Ryan's Hope", Hale landed the role of Mike Corbin on "General Hospital" from 1995 to 2010. He also appeared on the spin-off series "Port Charles" from 1997 to 2000. Hale's portrayal of Corbin became synonymous with the soap opera's mobster storylines.
Throughout his career, Hale guest-starred in numerous television shows, including "N.Y.P.D.", "Search for Tomorrow", "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing", "Matlock", "MacGyver" and "Rodney". He also had a memorable role as Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis in the 1976 film "All the President's Men."
Outside of acting, Hale attended Furman University and participated in plays at the Trustus Theatre in Columbia, South Carolina, which was founded by his late brother and sister-in-law.
