AceShowbiz - Artem Chigvintsev, a "Dancing with the Stars" professional, will not face criminal charges following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence. The Napa County District Attorney's Office has announced that there is insufficient evidence to pursue charges.
On August 29, Chigvintsev was arrested in Yountville, California, after a reported dispute with his wife, former WWE star Nikki Bella. He was charged with corporal injury to a spouse.
Nappa County District Attorney Allison Haley stated in a press release that a "thorough review of the criminal investigation" and evidence revealed that the available evidence does not meet the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard required to file criminal charges.
Haley emphasized that while the office takes every arrest seriously and stands firmly against domestic violence, they are ethically bound to only pursue charges when supported by evidence. The decision was made after a thorough examination of all available information.
The office may revisit the case if new information, facts, or evidence emerge.
Bella has since filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Chigvintsev has requested joint legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old son, visitations rights for Bella, and spousal support.
