AceShowbiz - In April, it was revealed that Sony Pictures and Hasbro were collaborating on a franchise based on the iconic board game Clue, which would include both television and movie projects. Now, reports suggest that "Barbarian" director Zach Cregger may direct the "Clue" reboot film.
According to journalist Jeff Sneider, Cregger is in talks to helm the project for Sony's TriStar Pictures label, which acquired the film and TV rights to the Hasbro board game earlier this year. Shay Hatten, known for writing "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" and "Army of the Dead", will pen the script.
The original 1985 "Clue" movie, directed by Jonathan Lynn, featured a star-studded cast and developed a cult following despite its initial box office disappointment. Now, fans can anticipate a fresh take on the beloved mystery game.
The Clue franchise joins an array of projects based on Hasbro products, including a "Dungeons & Dragons" series, a "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" sequel, a "Monopoly" film starring Margot Robbie, and a "Sims" movie also produced by Robbie.
While the production timeline for both the "Clue" movie reboot and television series is still in flux, fans can look forward to the prospect of a captivating and modern adaptation of the classic board game.
