AceShowbiz - Emmy Award winner Archie Panjabi ("Under the Bridge","Snowpiercer") has been cast as a villain in season 2 of "Doctor Who", Deadline reports. The series is scheduled to return in 2025.
Details about Panjabi's character are being kept secret. The BBC and Disney+ declined to comment.
Panjabi joins the cast alongside Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the titular Time Lord; Millie Gibson, as his companion Ruby Sunday; and Varada Sethu, who will debut as the fifteenth Doctor's co-companion Belinda Chandra.
In the first season starring Gatwa, The Doctor and Ruby Sunday traveled through time and space, encountering historical figures and formidable foes, including a terrifying bogeyman and the Doctor's most powerful enemy to date.
The long-running British series, which premiered in 1963, follows the adventures of an extraterrestrial being known as the Doctor. Panjabi joins a legacy of renowned actors who have portrayed the Time Lord, including William Hartnell, Tom Baker, Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, and Christopher Eccleston.
The Christmas special, "Joy to the World", is set to air on Christmas Day on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer in the U.K., featuring Gatwa and Nicola Coughlan as Joy.
