AceShowbiz - Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill experienced a tumultuous start to the NFL season when he was pulled over by police for reckless driving right outside Hard Rock Stadium. The incident, which took place just hours before the Dolphins' season-opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, escalated rapidly and ended with Hill being handcuffed on the ground.
According to police footage released shortly after the stop, the situation began when Hill sped past motorcycle cops. Things got heated when an officer knocked on Hill's window, prompting the NFL star to retort, "Don't knock on my window like that, man."
Hill, who was on the phone with his agent Drew Rosenhaus, expressed his frustration, asking the officers to give him a ticket and let him be on his way to avoid being late for the game. After refusing to roll his window down fully, Hill was dragged from his car and handcuffed.
The South Florida Police Benevolent Association defended the officers' actions, asserting that Hill was "not immediately cooperative" and that the handcuffing was necessary for the safety of both parties. They also emphasized Hill's refusal to sit on the ground, which led to him being "redirected to the ground."
On the other side, Miami-Dade Police director Stephanie V. Daniels announced an Internal Affairs investigation following the incident. One officer involved has already been placed on administrative leave. Addressing the media after the game, Hill said, "That should tell you everything you need to know."
The event sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many, including Hill's teammate Jalen Ramsey, calling for the officers involved to be fired. "Mfs like them can't have no type of power," Ramsey posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Despite the morning drama, Hill performed spectacularly on the field, logging seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. He even referenced the traffic stop during his endzone celebration by mimicking being handcuffed.
Young Thug, who is currently embroiled in his own legal battles, took a moment to show solidarity with Hill. The rapper posted a tweet saying, "The Cheetah's free," referring to Hill's nickname. This show of support was reciprocated by Hill during a recent on-field interview, where he acknowledged Young Thug by saying "SLATT" into the camera.
