AceShowbiz - Jeremy Renner, best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been documenting the rapid approach of the Davis Fire towards his Lake Tahoe home. Using his Instagram Stories, Renner, 53, shared vivid images and videos from Sunday, September 8, capturing the fast-spreading wildfire.
The "Hawkeye" star's first post showed that he getting "evacuated" from his home near Reno, Nev., accompanied by prayer hand emojis and a striking photo of thick smoke billowing over the mountains.
Renner also noted the fire's proximity by captioning another image from his driveway. The particularly alarming image showed clouds of smoke and orange flames consuming trees close to his home, with a fire truck parked on his property. Adding to the harrowing situation, Renner highlighted the unpredictable nature of the blaze by writing, "When the wind shifts it's either really good or really bad."
In one dramatic footage, a plane is seen dropping fire retardant chemicals over the smoky forest, and a fire truck navigates through massive clouds moving ominously towards the road. These moments underscore the intense firefighting efforts underway.
However, Renner assured his followers of his safety, posting a photo featuring Washoe County firefighters with a caption, "Everyone is evacuated and safe. Now for Mother Nature."
A state of emergency was declared by Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo on the same day, with CNN reporting that the "wind-driven blaze" has destroyed 14 structures, scorched 6,500 acres, and triggered the evacuation of 14,000 residents in Washoe County. As of Sunday night, the fire was reported to be 0% contained.
California, too, is grappling with its own wildfire crisis, including one significant blaze in the San Bernardino Mountains that has burned 20,552 acres.
Renner, whose primary home is in Nevada, confirmed to the Wall Street Journal in August that he has put his Los Angeles residence up for sale following his recovery from a severe snowplow accident in early 2023. The accident occurred in Reno, Nev., when Renner was helping a family member with a vehicle stuck in over three feet of snow.
