The Netflix adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's 'The Perfect Couple' features several deviations from the novel, including one inspired by Nicole Kidman's previous role.

AceShowbiz - Nicole Kidman's latest project, "The Perfect Couple", on Netflix, has undergone some notable changes from its source material, Elin Hilderbrand's novel. One significant alteration stems from Kidman's previous portrayal of Celeste on HBO's "Big Little Lies".

In the novel, the character played by Eve Hewson was named Celeste, but in the series, she is called Amelia. Showrunner Jenna Lamia explained that this change was made to avoid confusion with Kidman's Celeste role on "Big Little Lies".

Other changes include the addition of a third son to Greer (played by Kidman) and Tag (Liev Schreiber), and alterations to the ending. Lamia notes that these changes were necessary to translate the novel's themes effectively to the screen.

Despite these deviations, Hilderbrand expressed support for the showrunners' creative decisions. She stated that she prioritized the creation of "excellent television" and gave Jenna Lamia full authority to make the necessary adjustments.

The star-studded cast of "The Perfect Couple" also includes Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, Billy Howle, Jack Reynor and Ishaan Khatter. The series has drawn comparisons to popular murder mystery shows like "Big Little Lies" and "The White Lotus", and offers a captivating blend of intrigue and elite social dynamics.
