AceShowbiz - Jenn Tran's "The Bachelorette" journey reached the end in the Wednesday, September 3 episode. In the finale episode, the leading lady finally made a decision and chose between Devin Strader and Marcus Shoberg. Jenn, however, shocked everyone with an unprecedented move.
She offered a last-chance date break-up between her and Marcus. Marcus, who had yet to say the L-word to Jenn, admitted to host Jess Palmer that he'd been struggling with his doubt of whether or not Jenn and I were meant for each other.
During their meeting, Jenn told Marcus, "I don't know if you see me in your future. I felt like you weren't excited for the future." Marcus then got candid about having "uncertainties" that might hold him back before eventually telling Jenn that he loved him. However, that might be too late because Jenn decided to say goodbye to him.
After ending things with Marcus, Jenn made it clear that she chose Devin. She even revealed that she won't let him propose to her because she would be the one proposing. "I want him to know that I'm going to fight for him every day, and I'm going to choose him every day," she explained.
When viewers hoped to see how the romantic proposal unfolded, Jess interrupted as he said, "You won't be seeing that proposal." He continued after a long pause, "That's right. Because of what transpired since that day in Hawai'i, we decided it wouldn't be appropriate for anyone to see it until we heard from Jenn."
In the studio, Jenn got emotional as she recalled what happened between her and Devin. "We had left Hawai'i engaged and very happy. I thought that I had found the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with, and then, essentially, as soon as we left Hawai'i, things were different. It kind of just felt like he was pulling away," she said.
"The efforts were inconsistent, he wasn't calling as much. texting as much. I was confused, I didn't understand because we had just left so happy," she added. "I felt like I was secondary to everything else in his life ... and I didn't understand why."
Even more shocking, Jenn revealed that they broke up last month. "We had a happy couple [visit] planned sometime last month early and the night before, he called me, and he basically broke off the engagement. He basically said that he didn't love me anymore and didn't feel the same way. ... He regretted getting engaged. And I didn't know. I knew all along it was just different," she said.
The former couple later reunited for the first time since July. As Jenn demanded closure, Devin said, "I failed you. And there's nothing I can say other than that. But everything I felt for you was real." He continued, "When we left the show, I had a lot of doubts. I did come clean to you about that."
At the end, Jess praised Jenn for being strong throughout the journey which was definitely not easy for her. "You showed all of us what a strong and powerful woman is," he gushed.
Following the exes' intense moment, they awkwardly watched their proposal together. During their proposal, Jenn told Devin, "You were always a constant, our love was always there, and I never doubted for a second how much you loved me. I love you so deeply, Devin, but I can't let you propose to me. I've decided to choose myself in this journey, and the best version of myself is when I'm with you."
When Jenn showed a wedding band in a seashell, Devin excitedly replied, "Absolutely. A hundred times over." While Jenn previously said that she wouldn't let Devin propose to her, he did it anyway as he asked, "Will you make me the happiest man and marry me?"
After watching the proposal, Devin once again explained himself, "That man loved you. I understand that I couldn't keep promises that I made to you." To that, Jenn told him, "I hope that you learn that the weight of your words matter."
