Tragedy struck in August 2019 when a horrific hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles left Ndefo with both legs amputated. According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, he was loading groceries into his car when an SUV struck him, severing his right leg on impact and necessitating the amputation of his left leg to save his life.

"It's hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend. You always were and always will be a bright shining light," she wrote.
