AceShowbiz - George Clooney is putting in a lot of hard work in his marriage now. According to a new report, the actor is going all out to save his marriage to Amal Alamuddin following a long stint of leading separate lives.
The Hollywood star, who has been spotted on romantic dates with his wife lately, is reportedly desperately clinging to wife Amal after realizing that they have become "more like roommates than lovers." A so-called insider tells RadarOnline.com, "He's started to really worry about losing Amal and making way more time to connect with her because it suddenly dawned on him they're becoming more like roommates than lovers."
The 63-year-old, who was once named PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive, is allegedly in a panic over his fading looks. "She's still very young and vibrant, and George can't exactly ignore their age gap," the source claims. "He's starting to show his age, and it's freaking him out."
Thus, the former "ER" star has been making "a big effort to keep sweeping her off her feet." The source explains, "They need to keep the passion alive, so George is becoming Mr. Romance."
The couple, who has been married since 2014 and shares twins Ella and Alexander, recently relocated to Provence, France, which also affected their relationship. They allegedly "got so caught up in the move it was hard to focus on the relationship".
"But George is making their marriage a huge priority. They're having romantic lunches and going on long walks after dinner," an insider assures. "He's desperate to get the passion firing and doing sweet things like surprising her in bed with her favorite croissants and buying her perfumes." The source adds, " 'Happy wife, happy life' is his motto and he's putting his money and time where his mouth is."
In Touch previously reported that George and Amal were "leading separate lives" due to their workaholic lifestyles. "They are both hard-core workaholics, so it's like they're in their own little bubble. They are in two very different worlds 90% of the day. They're leading separate lives," a source told the outlet in June.
"Neither of them thinks twice about putting in 18-hour days on projects they're passionate about," the source claimed, adding, "The only time they really have to overlap is when they're on vacation. They both have their own staff and friends, and there's not a lot of crossover."
But the pair have been spending more time together lately. Earlier this week, the duo enjoyed a lavish dinner at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo's restaurant. The "Batman & Robin" star was seen beaming with pride as he held tight to Amal's arm, ensuring she was safely escorted from the boat to dry land.
