While they seem like the picture of bliss on the red carpet, a source claims friends of the Hollywood actor and the human rights lawyer 'are wondering if they'll make it.'

AceShowbiz - George Clooney and Amal Clooney may be having trouble in paradise. While they're rarely hit with negative rumors, a source has now claimed that the pair are "leading separate lives" due to their workaholic lifestyles.

"They are both hard-core workaholics, so it's like they're in their own little bubble," a source told In Touch (via, noting that George is soon relocating to NYC for about a year to star on Broadway, 4,000 miles away from his and Amal's Lake Como villa, where they spend most of their time as a family.

The wedded spouses, who used to make a deal that they wouldn't left their jobs run their lives, are allegedly starting to crack under the pressure as the source added, "They are in two very different worlds 90 percent of the day. They're leading separate lives."

"George runs his filmmaking operation - from directing and producing to taking acting roles in other people's projects - like a military general. He's a perfectionist and demands perfection from everybody who steps up to work with him," the source detailed, adding that it's only gotten "more extreme" since he and two friends Rande Gerber and Michael Meldman sold off their tequila company, Casamigos, in 2017 for $1 billion. "So you know he's not doing it for the money. He truly enjoys it and is extremely hands-on."

Amal is no different as the insider said the human rights lawyer "is often traveling back and forth for work, which can become chaotic." The source claimed, "She's doing so much around the world that most people don't even know about. Her career will never take a back seat to George's career, and she made that clear to him very early on."

"Neither of them thinks twice about putting in 18-hour days on projects they're passionate about," the source said, adding that George has a state-of-the-art production facility at home. "The only time they really have to 'overlap' is when they're on vacation. But when you live in Lake Como, the urge to actually take a vacation doesn't come up that often. They both have their own staff and friends, and there's not a lot of crossover."

"They seem like the picture of bliss on the red carpet, and of course they always gush about each other in public, but friends are wondering if they'll make it. A lot of Hollywood couples don't," the source added, noting that they're "not necessarily with each other."

Despite their alleged strained relationship, George and Amal make sure "the twins' happiness is their top priority." With their 10th anniversary approaching, "they are trying to make more of an effort to spend quality time together."

But neither of them is seemingly ready to slow down their careers. "But obviously she'll still be traveling a lot, and he won't be able to get away as easily. So unfortunately they'll just be leading separate lives again," the source said.

George, who married Amal in 2014, previously said of coordinating their busy schedules, "Our deal is that we can't be more than a week apart. So far, that's worked out pretty well."
