AceShowbiz - Jenna Ortega, known for her roles in "Wednesday", "Scream" and "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice", recently shared that she auditioned for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" adaptation six years ago. In a BuzzFeed interview, Ortega expressed her excitement for the opportunity, stating that Villeneuve is one of her favorite filmmakers.
While she is unsure of the exact role she was considered for, Ortega hinted that it was for the part of Chani, which ultimately went to Zendaya Coleman. "I think it was Zendaya's," she said. "But they weren't saying that. Everything was very secret."
Regarding the upcoming "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" sequel directed by Tim Burton, Ortega shared her experiences working with the legendary director. "On Wednesday, we were just trying to get to know each other a bit," she said of her relationship with Burton on the Netflix series. "On Beetlejuice..., he seemed a lot more playful and I think it actually helped our relationship a lot. It was just a very joyous, happy shoot."
Ortega also praised her co-stars in the film, including Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara. "Winona was so welcoming," she said. "I have been such a fan of Michael Keaton for such a long time that I think actually seeing him in person I went inside myself because I weirdly got shy."
As for "Wednesday", Ortega confirmed that the team is currently filming season 2. "There's a lot happening in those episodes and they feel very prominent," she said. "It feels like every day we're tackling a big scene."
In addition, Ortega revealed some personal details in the interview. She confessed that her first celebrity crush was Barack Obama and that she found the rumors connecting her to Johnny Depp "insane."
