AceShowbiz - YG has responded to the criticism surrounding a peace walk that he led in Compton. When defending himself, the rapper likened himself to Martin Luther King Jr.
The emcee turned to X, formerly Twitter, to offer his clapback. "I did sum positive Martin Luther king s**tt for the gangland & people still got sum negative to say," he argued.
During the peace walk, YG was joined by several rival gang members. Treetop Pirus and Fruit Town Pirus members, who've been at odds for years, were both in attendance.
"We came together. My hood and the Fruit Town Pirus across the street, we've been at war for, like, the last 10 years. We just enemies," he told TMZ of the event. "So I felt like we all needed to come together and walk down our main street."
"We all from Piru so we don't really need to be beefing with each other. We've been doing that s**t for years so it's time to likeā¦ if we can clean it, clean it up," he added. "There's been a lot of conversations about that s**t so I put some energy towards it and we got it right... It's successful. All love and positive. We outside."
During the walk, YG stopped by for food at Tam's Burgers. He brought the whole squad into the small little shop with music bumping. The "Toot It and Boot It" hitmaker picked up a bite to eat at the shop. Clearly in good spirits, the "My N***a" spitter even showed off some of his dance moves.
Family members and kids also joined them as they journeyed through the streets of Compton, making sure it's a safe space for everyone participating. At one point, The Game also showed up to support the event and was seen taking photos underneath a shady tree to stave off the L.A. heat, but it's unclear if he made it all the way through the walk.
