AceShowbiz - Mark Wahlberg has revealed one of the sweetest things he did to honor Rhea Durham. On "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", the "Ted" actor said that he keeps a tattoo of his wife's name despite removing other inks on his entire body.
In the Monday, August 12 episode of the TV program, the 53-year-old actor had a sit-down with fellow actor Jeff Goldblum to discuss various topics. In the interview, Jeff asked, "I've never seen you before. Let me see, you've got a... what is that? A tattoo?"
Confirming that he has a black ink on his ring finger, Mark spilled, "Yes, that's my wife's name." On the reason why he decided to have the tattoo on the specific part of his body, he said, "In case I'm not wearing my ring or I'm working, I can always have [it]."
About Rhea's reaction upon learning of his sweet gesture, Mark recalled, "She said to me, she goes, 'Oh my God.' That's the night I got this. On Valentine's Day one year, she said, 'That's the nicest thing you've ever done.' I said, 'Well can I have back the expensive jewelry and just get you one of these too?' and there we go."
Mark went on to share, "That's the only remaining tattoo I have. I got all the other tattoos removed." In response, Jeff asked, "Is that painful may I ask?" The actor replied, "Terribly painful," before recounting, "They promise you that it's very quick - couple of visits - it took me many years."
Mark explained, "I actually was trying to get them removed by the time I was going to do 'The Fighter' because every time I did a movie, I had to take my shirt off. I had to cover it all with makeup," making a reference to his 2010 film. He called it an "agonizing experience," adding, "So I tried to get it done."
"And it took me like five years to get them completely removed," the actor, who tied the knot with Rhea back in 2009, continued. He further described the pain, "And it's like hot bacon grease getting flicked on you over and over and over again. Hopefully the technology is advancing by now."
