AceShowbiz - In a video posted on August 12, singer Chappell Roan expressed her admiration for Miley Cyrus, who had recently been inducted into the Disney Legends at the D23 fan event. Roan praised Cyrus for her ability to constantly reinvent herself and for being true to herself and her music.
"The things that I admire about Miley Cyrus is that she constantly reinvents herself and always works," Roan said. "She's so true to herself and puts out music that is so authentic."
Roan recalled her first concert, which was Cyrus's 2007-2008 "Best of Both Worlds" tour featuring the Jonas Brothers. She said that Cyrus's performance inspired her and that she still thinks about it today.
"She came down in a box from the ceiling. I was like, 'How do I do that one day?' I still think about it," Roan said. "I still think about the show. I'm like, 'I want to be like Hannah Montana,' to this day."
Roan also noted the similarities between her own career and Cyrus's. "There's a lot of crossover between Miley and my project, and it's just like, I'm such a fan too," she said. "Miley does anything and it works. Miley feels like freedom to me."
Cyrus, 31, was the youngest inductee into the Disney Legends. Superfan Lainey Wilson performed the Hannah Montana theme song, "The Best of Both Worlds", at the ceremony.
